An Unforgettable Trip in 1975
It was my pleasure to be in the company of a Scholar.
In the journey to the south.
He was interested in acquiring first hand knowledge.
It was a month long journey with many hardships.
We had covered all inhabited islands, in the south.
To cross over One-and-a-half degree Channel
An adventurous experience for us all,
On board the small launch, we could see nothing in the middle of channel.
Blue sky above, blue sea around.
When we reached the southern most atolls
The islands scattered on the vast sea a few feet above the sea level,
Pristine clear lagoons around them waving fronds of palm trees.
Welcoming all friends coming from far and near.
Visiting so many islands and knowing about their problems.
His future vision was widened after seeing those vulnerable islands,
Of course, seeing is believing.
This visit created in the heart of the young patriot, the spirit to serve them.
Today we are proud of him as the "man for all islands".
